Regency: Relating to, or characteristic of the styles of George IV's regency 
as Prince of Wales during the period 1811-20

Ribbed: Vertical ridges in a garment.

Sarong: A loose garment made of a long strip of cloth wrapped around the 
body that is worn as a skirt or dress

Satinella: Suggestive of satin. Satinella is especially of a smooth lustrous 
appearance or sleekness to touch.

Shelf Bra: Comes below the breast to just under the nipple. It's usually

Outrageous costumes that enhance the wearerís sexuality and laugh at modesty are the hallmark of the burlesque. A play which featured young woman dressed in tights as they played various mythological characters was written and produced by British actress Lydia Thompson. At the height of the Victoria era this play was being performed in New York.
